Meet Jesse

Sumner County native Jesse Walker knows how public service and local government impacts the community. Growing up in Hendersonville, Jesse developed an interest in being a part of the change he wanted to see in the world.  He discovered through Leadership Sumner Youth, a program for high school students, the importance of enhanced leadership skills, civic engagement, and community action. This experience launched Jesse’s passion for community, government, and policy initiatives.

Jesse is a graduate of Volunteer State Community College and Belmont University. He understands the importance of grit, having worked full-time at a technology startup while putting himself through law school. In 2019, Jesse obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Nashville School of Law. He is a licensed attorney in the State of Tennessee and a notary public.

To foster the next generation of leaders, Jesse serves as a Board Member for Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature (TISL), a state-wide forum for college students to learn about government and civic engagement. He also serves as a Board Member of Historic Nashville, Inc., a non-profit that focuses on the preservation of historic properties. He serves as an active member and Ambassador of the Goodlettsville Chamber of Commerce. In 2022, the Goodlettsville Chamber of Commerce named Jesse to the annual 31 Under 31 list. In 2023, he was nominated for the Young Professional of the Year by the Chamber. In early 2024, he completed Leadership Goodlettsville , a non-profit program aiming to foster leaders and community advocates across various industries and backgrounds in Goodlettsville. Today, he is the associate general counsel at a technology & software company.

Jesse also served on the first board of directors of his community's HOA, helping establish long-term financial wellbeing, enhanced neighborhood safety, and increased amenities.

Jesse is currently running to be Goodlettsville's next City Commissioner. He is passionate about ensuring Goodlettsville remains a “GOOD” place to live, raise families, and conduct business. Jesse will fearlessly focus on:

  1. Attracting and supporting new and existing small businesses,

  2. Increasing our quality of life through top-notch services and programs, and

  3. Advancing smarter growth and long-term planning.

These three priorities will guide Jesse Walker as your next Goodlettsville City Commissioner.

Drawing upon experiences in public action and legal tech, Jesse will deliver intelligent and efficient solutions to our city's issues while always looking ahead to the future. He promises to be responsive and transparent to constituents who have questions, concerns, and ideas for the betterment of Goodlettsville. Jesse will offer a fresh perspective and voice to the opportunities and challenges facing our city now and tomorrow.

Jesse and his husband, Dr. James Vince Witty, a long time educator and leader with Metro Nashville Public Schools, live in Goodlettsville with their three Shih Tzus. As a lifelong resident of the area, Jesse is excited to serve his community and earn your vote on November 5, 2024.
